Dear Friends,

Recently we received a dream of an essential oil: A pristinely crisp distillate harvested from the St Johnswort population show in the image below. While St Johnswort has impressive therapeutic qualities I feel an oil of this pedigree is a collector’s item in and of itself.

St. Johnswort essential oil is more volatile than most other essential oils. It has an unusual composition, often containing 30% or more of highly effusive non-terpenoid hydrocarbon (alkan) components. These chemically very inert components may be responsible for the oil’s specifically calming properties. Besides the unique hydrocarbon composition St. Johnswort essential oil also contains over 20% of the germacrene D sesquiterpenes. Germacrene D has been discovered to have pheromonal activity.

St. Johnswort is an outstanding aromatic plant which commands much esteem in western herbalist cultures, often associated with magical myths.

The oil’s completely non-irritant quality certainly contributes to its irresistible appeal. In French Style Aromatherapy it is recommended to counteract inflammation of the mucous membranes and to relief the effects of emotional and physical trauma. It is also one of the rare essential oils recommended for kidney infections. St. Johnswort is also a phenomenal agent to address excema and psoriasis, gentle yet utterly effective.

Beyond these serious and material indications the oil is simply a joy to have, as it connects to so many of the more ethereal aspects of aromatherapy.

As we only have a small quantity of this gem of an oil we suggest to place orders quickly.
