Peppermint as we generally encounter it is a sterile hybrid between Watermint and Spearmint. It was recognized as such in 1696 in Mitcham, England and since then its cultivation has spread through Europe, the USA and beyond.

Exquisite Therapeutic Properties of Peppermint

PeppermintThe powers of Peppermint are very often underestimated. In reality it is a heal all for overworked digestive tracts, effectively supporting liver, stomach and intestines. Ingested in capsules it can be extremely effective for food poisoning, even fish poisoning. Some of Peppermint’s most prominent properties are analgesic, antacid and urinary tract and intestinal antiinflammatory. It is also hypertensive and a cardiac tonic.

Its main areas of application are shingles, herpes and viral neuritis. Mentha piperita relieves the itching of hives and eczema. Diluted and applied topically it is surprisingly effective to relieve migraines and headaches. Another outstanding property is its ability to counteract dyspepsia, slow digestion and indigestion. Immediately applied it performs miracles on bruises and sports injuries.
