A wild Thyme variety (chemotype) with paracymene as the key component. Paracymene is an intermediate structure on the biosynthetic route from linalool and other aliphatic precursors to the hot phenols thymol and carvacrol. As a result, it has the most outstanding anti-infectious qualities. Because it is a much less irritant than Thyme thymol it is easier to use and probably even more effective. It is, however, stimulating enough to display counter-irritant qualities. French texts recommend this oil as an excellent transdermal antalgic and for topical arthritis and even arthrosis relief.
