Massoia

The Massoia tree is an evergreen in the Lauraceae family and is closely related to Ravensara and Bay Laurel. Essential oil of Cryptocarya massoia has a creamy, waxy, coconut-like aroma that relaxes the mind. Research shows extracts of Massoia are effective in combating immunosuppressed related fungal infections. Due to its massoia lactone content – curiously also found in Osmanthus – this oil can be a dermal irritant.
