Roots of Aromatherapy: Helichrysum from the original distillers in Corsica. Helichrysum oils from Corsica became sought after in the 1990s when the classic supply regions from the former Yugoslavia (Croatia, Bosnia, Herzegovina) stopped producing. As a result prices rose to their current levels.

Interestingly there is now also a French (?!) provenance of Helichrysum oil offered out of Grasse. The composition of these oils is a mix between the Corsican and the BiH (Bosnia and Herzegovina) provenances. The harvest of Helichrysum italicum for commercial purposes is illegal in mainland France.
